GameTheca

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 15 June 2026 · Last updated: 15 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how GameTheca (“GameTheca”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information when you visit gametheca.com (the “Site”). We are committed to data minimisation: we collect only what we need to operate the Site and the services you request.

Scope. This policy applies to the Site only. It does not apply to the third-party stores and services we link to, which operate under their own privacy policies. For our advertising and affiliate practices, see also our Terms of Use & Affiliate Disclosure.

1. Who we are (Data Controller)

GameTheca operates the Site and is the controller of the personal information described in this policy. For any privacy request or question, contact us at [email protected] or via our Contact page.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Email address — only if you subscribe to our newsletter or set a price-drop alert. This is the only personal information we store on our own systems.
  • Any information you choose to include when you email us (e.g. for support or feedback).

Information collected automatically

  • Standard technical data processed to deliver and secure the Site, such as IP address, approximate location, device and browser type, and the pages you view.
  • We use your approximate location to show relevant local pricing and store options. We do not use it to identify you or build a profile.

We do not require accounts or passwords, and we never collect names, addresses or payment details — any purchase happens on the third-party store you click through to, not on the Site.

3. How we use your information

  • To send the newsletter digest and the price-drop alerts you have requested.
  • To operate, secure, maintain and improve the Site.
  • To localise “buy” links and currency to your region.
  • To respond to your enquiries and comply with our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we never have.

4. Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK users)

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Consent — for sending you the newsletter and alerts (you may withdraw it at any time).
  • Legitimate interests — for operating, securing and improving the Site, where not overridden by your rights.
  • Legal obligation — where we must process data to comply with the law.

5. Cookies & similar technologies

We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies to remember your preferences, keep the Site secure, and — where our advertising and affiliate partners are enabled — to attribute qualifying purchases you make on third-party stores. These partners use such technologies under their own privacy policies. You can control or clear cookies through your browser settings; doing so will not prevent you from using the Site.

6. How we share information

We share personal information only as needed to operate the Site, with the following categories of recipients:

  • Service providers — such as our hosting/infrastructure and email-delivery providers, who process data on our behalf and only as instructed.
  • Advertising & affiliate partners — who attribute qualifying purchases you make on third-party stores. We do not share your email address with them.

Game and product information, prices and images shown on the Site are obtained from third-party data providers. Outbound links take you to third-party stores and websites that operate under their own privacy policies; we are not responsible for their practices.

7. Data retention

We keep your email and alert preferences only for as long as you remain subscribed, and remove them promptly after you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Automatically-collected technical logs are kept only for a short period for security and troubleshooting.

8. International transfers

We and our providers may process data in countries outside your own. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) where required by law.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port or restrict the processing of your personal information, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and you can exercise any right by emailing [email protected].

  • EEA/UK (GDPR): you may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
  • California (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know, delete and opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined.

10. Children's privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we limit what we collect to reduce risk.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “last updated” date above and, where appropriate, by notice on the Site.
